'Mariner 9' at Whitley Bay's Spanish City, August 2012
Kelly Richardson's 'Mariner 9' is a giant video art installation in
Whitley Bay's recently refurbished Spanish City. The 12-metre screen
depicts the Martian landscape a hundred years or so from now, following
human activity on the Red Planet. Richardson used Terragen software and
NASA's own data to create a realistic portrayal of the Red Planet.
The exhibition is one of several Tyneside Cinema-sponsored events taking place in the Spanish City, including the forthcoming Whitley Bay Film Festival.
'Mariner 9' runs until 19th August; entry is free and more information is available here.
